Keel Guard Installation Tips, Photos and Techniques: Unpack the KeelGuard and let it sit in a warm, sunny area for at least a half hour. Layout it out as straight as possible. Around our shop we triple clean the hull. We use alcohol for cleaning number one. We make sure that our cleaning phase goes beyond the limit of where the KeelGuard is to be installed. We then use some masking tape to line up the area where the KeelGuard is going to be installed. We clean again. Then use the scuff pad to scuff the entire area. We are removing any of the Gloss, wax and dirt. Then we clean again with acetone. Use clean rags! Now it's time for the etching solution that comes with the kit. Use the entire solution and be sure to cover all of the area Take the KeelGuard and remove a few inches of the center tape. And carefully attach it to the hull. If it looks correct, remove some of the side tapes and press each side to the hull. DO NOT TOUCH THE STICKY SIDE OF THE KEELGUARD. If everything looks good, just continue to remove the center tape and side tapes and apply it to the hull.
